Este blog tem menos de um ano - ainda sou uma novata nisto - mas desde que comecei "conheci" várias pessoas com o mesmo interesse e entusiasmo pela costura. Pessoas que me inspiram e que me fazem querer melhorar e fazer mais. Entre estas, encontra-se a Sara do blog Made by Sara. E foi a Sara que me apresentou este grupo de meninas, que para além do gosto pela costura têm em comum o gosto pela estética da costura japonesa. E foi também a Sara que teve a ideia e organizou esta  Japanese Sewing Week a primeira (de muitas, espero eu!). E por isso, OBRIGADA SARA!

This blog has less than a year - I am still a newcomer - but since then I've " met " several people with the same interest and enthusiasm for sewing. People who inspire me and make me want to improve and sew more. Among these is Sara from the blog Made by Sara. And it was Sara who introduced me to this group of ladies, who in addition to the love for sewing have in common the love  for Japanese aesthetics. And it was Sarah who had the idea and organized the  first Japanese Sewing Week (the first of many , I hope! ). And thus, THANK YOU SARA !

Como disse, gosto muito da estética dos moldes japoneses, há qualquer coisa de simples, elegante e confortável que me encanta.

Molde | Pattern

Para este Tour escolhi um projeto do primeiro livro japonês de costura que comprei, o Girls Style Book da  Tuttle Publishing (traduzido para Inglês), do qual já falei neste post.

O molde B, uma blusa/túnica com umas mangas lindas e uma renda a terminar a bainha foi o eleito, e é um dos meus preferidos deste livro (mas tenho mais alguns preferidos em "espera"). Já tinha usado estas mangas aqui e são a minha parte preferida!

A frente tem algumas pinças, que são de fácil construção e nas costas o tecido é franzido e fecha com um só botão, o que faz com que seja muito prático a vestir e despir e as crianças podem mexer-se à vontade - ótimo para brincadeiras.

Todos os moldes deste livro estão disponíveis nos tamanhos 2, 4, 6, 8 e 10 que correspondem a 100, 110, 120, 130 e 140 cm de altura, respetivamente.
 

Todos os projetos têm instruções, que não são muito detalhadas, mas como também têm diagramas com anotações sobre os passos a seguir torna-se simples (principalmente se se tem alguma experiência com costura). Incluem também as quantidades de todos os materiais necessários para cada uma dos tamanhos. Ah, e as medidas também estão em centímetros, o que facilita imenso :)

Atenção - os moldes não incluem margens de costura, mas os diagramas têm toda a informação do quanto acrescentar e onde. (Eu uso o truque dos dois lápis colados com fita cola).

 

For this Tour I chose a pattern from the first Japanese book  I bought the Girls Style Book  by Tuttle Publishing ( it´s translated into English), that I wrote about in this post.

The B pattern, a blouse/ tunic with beautiful puffed sleeves and laced trim used to finish the hem was the elected pattern, and is one of my favorites in the book ( but I have a few more favorites "on hold"). I Had used these sleeves before (here) and it's my favorite feature! The front has some pintucks  which are easy to construct and in the back the fabric is gathered and closes with only one button, which makes it very esay to dress and undress and children can play at ease.

All patterns in this book are available in sizes 2 , 4, 6 , 8 and 10 that correspond to 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 cm of height, respectively.
 

All projects have instructions, which are not very detailed, but they also have diagrams with notes on how to do it so it´s easy to follow ando it (especially if you have some sewing experience). It also includes the amounts of all materials needed for each of the sizes. Oh, and the measures are also in centimeters, which makes it much easier :)

Attention - the patterns do not include seam allowence, but the diagrams have all the information on how much to add and where. (I use the trick of two pencils tied together with tape).

 

Alterações | Modifications

Fiz o tamanho 2 ( a minha filha tem quase 3 anos) e acho que assenta lindamente à Maria e ainda tem "espaço" para ela crescer - assim dá para a época toda e talvez também para o ano (?!). E como queria que a túnica fosse para usar agora - Outono/Inverno - fiz a manga comprida em vez de 3/4.

Até aqui tudo bem.

E depois decidi que queria acrescentar uma gola tipo peter pan... OMG!!! O que é que eu fui fazer!

Deveria ser uma coisa simples...certo? Errado! Decidi que a gola seria só na frente, a parte das costas ficaria igual. Mas não queira que o viés ficasse por cima da gola e tive que alterar a construção do decote e acrescentar mais 1 cm de valor de costura, para poder virar o viés para o interior e ficar "invisível". Até aqui parecia tudo bem, excepto que não contei com o pesponto para prender o viés no interior e só, quase com tudo pronto, verifiquei que tinha um problema - a GOLA, o pesponto tinha que ser por baixo da gola e esta já estava cosida no ombro. Tive que fazer o pesponto em várias partes, primeiro atrás, de um lado e depois do outro, e depois, por baixo da gola!! (Acho que ganhei alguns cabelos brancos com esta "invenção") E o cantinho da gola junto ao ombro teve que ser cosido à mão...

Mas já está, e ficou bem melhor do que eu estava à espera.

 

Portanto, se seguirem o molde à risca é ótimo e muito fácil de fazer e vai ficar bem, com certeza.

 

I did a size 2 (my daughter is almost 3 years old) and I think it fits beautifully on Mary and still has " room" for her to grow - hopefully she'll be able to wear it for this season and also next year (? !). This is a tunic to be weared in Autumn/Winter so I did a long sleeved instead of 3/4 one .

So far so good.

 

And then I decided I wanted to add a peter pan collar... OMG !!! What have I done!

It should be a simple thing ... right? Wrong! I decided that add the collar only in front, the back would stay the same. I didn´t want the neckline binding to be visible, so I changed the construction of the neckline and add another 1 cm seam allowence, in order to turn the binding to the wrong inside and make it "invisible". So far it seemed okay, except I didn't thought about how to do the top stitching on the binding, until I almost all set. Then I had a problem - the COLLAR, the stitching had to be under the collar and this was already sewn in the shoulder. I had to do the stitching in 3 parts, the back first: one side and then the other, and then, under the collar!! (I think I gained a few gray hairs with this "invention") And the part where the collar meets the shoulder had to be hand-stitched ...

It's ready, and it came out much better than I expected.

 So if you follow the instructions, this pattern it's very easy to sew and will surely look great.

 

 

Tecido | Fabric

O  tecido já tinha há algum tempo e foi-me oferecido por uma amiga. É um tecido que acho lindo pelas cores suaves e o estampado de flores pequeninas. É um algodão, de peso médio e bastante suave ao toque.

Para a bainha escolhi uma renda de malha num tom areia (??), que lhe dá um toque mais cozy e inverno.

 I have this fabric on my stash for some time now, it was offered to me by a friend. I love it, love the beautiful soft colors and the tiny flowers print. It is a medium weight cotton with a very soft touch. For the trim I chose a wool in the color sand (??), which gives it a more cozy and "winterish"  feel.

 

 

Por aqui a túnica faz sucesso e eu a-d-o-r-o estas mangas ;)

Over here it´s a hit and I l-o-v-e the sleeves ;)

E já estamos na Kids Clothes Week outra vez!

Desta vez o tema é TRAVELING, e eu resolvi "viajar" até ao Japão!
Desde que vi esta túnica que fiquei rendida, é maravilhosa! Adoro a fita para atar nas costas, a abertura cruzada atrás, os folhos nas mangas e em baixo, tantos detalhes e ao mesmo tempo tão simples.
 

We are already in Kids Clothes Week again!
This time the theme is TRAVELING, and I decided to "travel" to Japan!
Since I saw this tunic that I was surrendered, it is wonderful! I love the ribbon to tie on the back, the crossed opening, the ruffles on the sleeves and bottom, so much detail and yet so simple.

 

Vem no livro Linen, Wool, Cottonn Kids da Akiko Mano que inclui 21 moldes de blusas, túnicas, vestidos, calças, calções, casacos, coletes, capas, um gorro e um cachecol com capuz!!

Para além desta túnica (Ribbon-back tunic, projeto E) já estão na minha (longa) lista de To Do's mais algumas peças deste livro.

It is in the book Linen, Wool, Cottonn Kids of Akiko Mano which includes 21 patterns: blouses, tunics, dresses, pants, shorts, coats, jackets, hoods, a hat and a scarf with hood !!
In addition to this garment (Ribbon-back tunic, project E) are already in my (long) To Do's list a few more pieces from this book.
 

Tal como os outros livros de costura japoneses que tenho, este tem instruções de costura com esquemas detalhados e fáceis de seguir e tem também uma série de instruções sobre técnicas de costura que são usadas nestes projetos. E também, tal como nos outros livros, estes moldes não têm margens de costura incluídas...

Todos os projetos vêm nos tamanhos 4 a 7 (que não correspondem à idade!)sendo o 4 para uma criança com 100 cm de altura e o 7 para 130 cm de altura. As restantes medidas são determinantes para a escolha do tamanho ideal. 
 

Like other Japanese sewing books I own, this has sewing instructions with detailed and easy to follow diagrams and also has a series of instructions on sewing techniques that are used in these projects. As in the other books, these patterns do not include seam allowences...
All designs come in sizes 4 to 7 (which does not correspond to age!), size 4 is for a child 100 cm tall and size 7 to a child 130 cm. The other measures are crucial for the choice of the right size.

 

 

 

 Antes mesmo de o livro ter chegado cá a casa, já tinha comprado o tecido para este projeto, escolhi um algodão muito leve e fresco, plumeti, em azul claro e para atar atrás uma fita de algodão em rosa bem forte e alegre para contrastar com o tom mais romântico do tecido. Adorei esta mistura de cores e texturas! Comprei ambos na minha loja local - os Bispos.

 

Even before the book has arrived, I had already bought the fabric for this project, I choose a very light and fresh cotton, plumeti, light blue and a cotton ribbon in a very strong and cheerful pink to contrast with the romantic tone  of the fabric. I loved this mixture of colors and textures! I bought both at my local store - Bispos.

 

 E no primeiro dia da KCW era isto que tinha: o tecido e a fita, o livro e as linhas! Lá se foi o plano de ter tudo preparado. Ainda assim, desta vez, consegui terminar a tempo :)

 

And on the first day of KCW this is what I had: the fabric and ribbon, the book and thread! So much for the plan to have everything prepared. Yet, this time, I managed to finish in time :)
 

As medidas da Maria ficavam entre os tamanhos 4 e 5, acabei por escolher o mais pequeno com base nas medidas de depois de acabado (para cada peça são apresentadas as medidas depois de pronto - o que deu muito jeito) e também porque este modelo é bastante largo. Tracei o molde exatamente como é e acrescentei as margens de costura recomendadas.

Não fiz alterações nenhumas, a não ser usar uma fita, um pouco mais larga do que o sugerido, para atar em vez de ser do mesmo tecido.

O processo de construção e de costura foi muito fácil de seguir, as marcações são ótimas e tudo bate certo - é tão bom quando assim é!

Gosto mesmo muito da estética das peças japonesas, simples e confortáveis mas especiais q.b. e sempre com um ar effortless (não me ocorre nenhuma palavra em português para isto!!)

Maria were inbetween sizes 4 and 5, I ended up choosing the smallest based on the finished measurements (for each piece presents the measures after it's done - which was very useful) and because this pattern is a loose fit. I traced the pattern exactly as it is and added the recommended seam allowences.
I did not made changes, except use a ribbon, a little wider than the suggested rather than the string tie from the same fabric.
The sewing process was very easy, instructions are simple to follow, the markings are great and everything fit together - is so good that happens!
I really like the aesthetic of Japanese patterns, simple and comfortable but special and always with a effortless look.

Desta vez fiquei mesmo muito contente com o resultado e acho que fica linda na Maria. Acho que é a minha peça favorita :) E a Maria também gostou, especialmente do laço rosa...

* KCW: Wild (but very sweet) Things

Já conhecia o Kids Clothes Week há algum tempo e sempre quis participar, mas por uma razão ou por outra isso acabou por nunca acontecer.

Como o tempo para a costura tem sido reduzido, e já tinha um tecido e um projeto escolhidos para começar e que queria mesmo fazer, tinha decidido que desta vez também não iria participar.

Além disso, apesar de ter achado o tema giro não estava a ver como é que o poderia usar e adaptá-lo ao guarda-roupa da Maria. A verdade é que estava a interpretar o tema de uma forma muito literal...

 

Mas no domingo à noite (dia anterior ao início do desafio de primavera) depois de ter lido alguns posts com ideias de como adaptar o tema começaram a surgir algumas ideias que se enquadravam no tema e também ao nosso (meu) gosto. Lembrei-me de um tecido com um padrão com elefantes (super wild!) e também pavões (não tão wild...) que tinha no meu stash e resolvi usar o molde que já queria usar. E só nessa altura é que me inscrevi...

 

Então o molde escolhido e adorado há imenso tempo foi o da túnica Myrantine da Citronille, tamanho 2 anos, na versão sem gola de folhos. Neste modelo sugerem usar um tecido diferente na parte superior da frente mas como não tinha nenhum que ficasse bem e também não queria que fosse o mesmo porque perdia parte da graça, pensei que podia trabalhar o tecido para que ficasse diferente. Já tinha visto este efeito de "pregas onduladas" e decidi fazê-las, vi alguns blogs e gostei deste, apesar não ter seguido à risca as indicações.

 

 

Primeiro fiz as pregas e o efeito ondulado, deu muito algum trabalho, depois cortei o molde por cima. Além disso decidi que queira juntar outra cor e escolhi linha rosa claro que contrastava o suficiente com a cor do tecido e depois ainda decidi que era giro acrescentar um vivo, também rosa, a dividir a parte superior da inferior e que ainda ficava mais giro se tivesse o viés também rosa (acabou por ser às riscas rosa e branco).

- O que é que aconteceu ao "Less is More" ???

E na terça-feira - 2º dia do KCW -  ainda andava a comprar o material que faltava!

Depois resolvi alterar as mangas e usar a parte de cima da Myrantine - porque encaixa no corpo - mas a parte de baixo do molde B do livro de costura japonês Girls Style Book e usei as mesmas proporções do molde B, usei o tamanho 2 anos.

 

Foi a primeira vez que usei um molde da Citronille e achei que as instruções não são assim tão simples para quem não tem experiência, os esquemas ajudam e muito mas houve alguns passos que foram complicados e consegui perceber porque fiz alguma pesquisa, outros passos não cheguei a perceber muito bem como seriam e fiz como achei melhor.  Com o Girls Style Book correu bem, mas também foram só umas mangas.

 

Quando fiz as provas à Maria a blusa assentava-lhe muito bem e só foi preciso retirar um pouco de comprimento, mais ou menos 3 cm, em comprimento e também nas mangas. E gostei tanto do efeito das mangas sem  elástico (originalmente tem um elástico a apertar no final) que decidi não colocar e em vez disso usei mais vivo para fazer o acabamento.

Devo dizer que depois de decidir o tecido e o molde (que NÃO precisa de nenhum tipo de acrescento porque é simplesmente lindo) as ideias não paravam de surgir. Às tantas, já estava a exagerar na quantidade de coisas a acrescentar/alterar e tive que por um travão, antes que ficasse a parecer um fato de palhaço! Acho que apesar de tudo ficou bastante equilibrado e não parece exagerado... Ou parece??

 

Com tudo isto, e como não tinha planeado participar, não consegui terminar a tempo, o que me deixou triste porque queria mesmo ter participado. Da próxima vez que me inscrever vou ter o  projeto definido com antecedência e o material todo pronto, assim já devo conseguir cumprir o prazo ;)

  

Conseguir fotos com a Maria parada foi muuuiiiiito complicado! A maior parte foi assim...

I already knew Kids Clothes Week for some time now and always wanted to participate  but for some reason it never happened. As my time for sewing has been reduced, and I had a fabric and design chosen to start and really wanted to do, I decided that this time I wouldn´t participate either. In addition, despite having liked the theme I wasn´t seeing how could I adapt it to Maria´s wardrobe. The truth is that I was interpreting the theme in a very literal meaning...  

But on Sunday night (the day before spring challenge beggining) after reading some posts with ideas on how to adapt the theme,  some ideas began to emerge that fit into the theme and also to our (my) personal taste. I remembered a fabric with a pattern with elephants (super wild !) and also peacocks (not so wild ... ) I had in my stash and I decided to use the pattern that I already wanted to use. And only then did I signed up ...

So, the pattern chosen (and worshiped for a long time) was the Myrantine blouse from Citronille, size two in the version without  the ruffles collar. In this pattern it´s suggested the use of a different fabric on chest area but as I hadn´t one that looked right I thought I could "work" the fabric to make it different. I had seen this effect "wave tucks" and decided to go with it, I look for how to do it in a few blogs and I liked this one, although I didn´t follow instructions exactly.

 

 

First I made the tucks and then the wavy effect, which took some work and time, then cut the pattern over it. Also, I decided  to add another color to it and choose light pink thread that contrasted enough with the color of the fabric and then decided it was still in need to have a piping, also rose, to divide the top and bottom of the blouse. And still (!) hadded pink bias (turned out to be pink and white stripes).

And on Tuesday - 2nd KCW day - I was still buying the stuff that was missing!

 

 

 

Afterwards I decided to change the sleeves and use the top sleeve of the Myrantine blouse - because it fits the body - and the bottom sleeve of the pattern B of the Japanese sewing book Girls Style Book and used the same proportions of the pattern B, used size 2 again.

It was the first time I used a pattern by Citronille and found the instructions not so beginner friendly, diagrams help a lot but there were a few steps that were complicated and I had to do some  research on how to do it, other steps I couldn´t figure out and just did it as I thought better. With the Girls Style Book all went well, but were only some sleeves.

The blouse  fitted Maria very well and it was only necessary to reduce about 3 cm in length and also the sleeves. I liked SOOOO much of the sleeves without elastic (originally it had an elastic tightening the end) I decided not to put  one and instead used more piping to finish it.

 

I must say that after deciding the fabric and the pattern (which does NOT need any kind of adding to it, and it is simply beautiful as it is) the ideas just kept comming. At a certain point I had to stop myself, has I was exaggerating on the amount of things to add/change, before it got to look like a carnival outfit! I think it turned out well balanced and does not seem exaggerated ... or does it ??

With all this, and I he had not planned to sign up for this challenge, I could not finished in time, which made me sad because I really wanted to have participated. Next time I'll set up in advance and get all the material ready, so I´ll be able to meet the deadline ;)

[Mental note for myself] The next project will be done as it is, without inventions!

E finalmente chegaram! Adoro receber correio...

 

Já tinha visto vários blogs que falavam dos livros de costura japoneses e de como o design era simples e as peças super confortáveis e lindas e tinha alguma curiosidade para ver como eram.  Há imensos, e o difícil foi escolher o  que se adequava melhor ao meu gosto pessoal, mas depois de alguma pesquisa optei pelo Girls Style Book.

 



De fato gosto imenso do livro, as fotografias e o styling são maravilhosos, até mesmo o tipo de papel e as cores são bonitos. Bom, e as peças SÃO muito bonitas e acho que vou querer fazer a maior parte!

O livro tem os moldes num envelope à parte, na contracapa, com os vários tamanhos (2,4,6,8 e 10 para toas as peças), tem instruções de construção simples, bem como as quantidades de tecido necessárias para cada um e tem imensos diagramas com anotações, que me parecem fáceis de seguir (ainda não fiz nenhum). E tem as medidas em centímetros.

Tem um senão, os tamanhos não são bem os nossos... O tamanho 2, que é o mais pequeno, é para uma criança com 100 cm de altura, peito - 54cm, cintura- 49cm e anca - 57cm. Acho que vão ser necessárias algumas alterações para que sirvam à minha filha e não como não tenho muita experiência, acho que não será muito fácil.

Mas estou muito contente com este livro! Espero mostrar em breve alguma coisa daqui...

 

 

O outro livro Carefree Clothes for Girls, tem um estilo de peças que não é muito o meu género, tem 2 ou 3 peças de que gosto muito mas o resto... acho que não gosto mesmo nada. O livro tem imagens lindíssimas e as fotografias têm ótima qualidade. Tem mesmo imagens muito bonitas. Mas depois as peças... não são nada o meu gosto pessoal...
